Children are now tyrants, not the servants of their households. They no longer rise when elders enter the room. They contradict their parents, chatter before company, gobble up dainties at the table, cross their legs, and tyrannize their teachers.<\/p>\n<cite>Attributed to Socrates<\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">This quote is attributed to Socrates.&nbsp; It may be spurious, but even if it is it makes an important point.&nbsp; People have been bitching about &#8220;kids these days&#8221; for a long, long time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">I&#8217;m tired of hearing about how awful the kids or young people are these days.&nbsp; They&#8217;re OK.&nbsp; They&#8217;re not worse than we are, they&#8217;re only different.&nbsp; And they&#8217;re no different than we were when we were their age.&nbsp; Every generation wants to distinguish itself from the one that produced it.&nbsp; The older generation freaks out about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">Kids are going to be different.&nbsp; Get over it.&nbsp; If you can get past the differences, you can meet some mighty fine people who happen to be young.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph\">This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC6795513\/?fbclid=IwAR38WcUDDvVDGxD8BOrTcH2aBant-6hU8iqLlZA_16BxNXQvy9pYErMWW8A\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">link<\/a> may help to explain this odd phenomenon&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The children now love luxury; they have bad manners, contempt for authority; they show disrespect for elders and love chatter in place of exercise.
