The US Government has released some video footage of interactions between military aircraft and something that was not identified. Evidently the proper term for these things is now UAP – Unidentified Aerial Phenomena. This is probably a necessary change, since for many people, “UFO” means “alien spacecraft.”
Some people became greatly excited by this development. “Finally, the Government admits that there are aliens, yadda-yadda-yadda.” The facts are less exciting.
The Government has only produced a few videos showing some sort of phenomenon that they did not explain. They admitted that they don’t know what it was in the videos. And that’s it. They’re saying, “We don’t know what was going on in these videos.”
What we can say with confidence is that there are times when people see things that appear to be in the sky, that behave unlike familiar aircraft or other objects. Most of the time these experiences can easily be explained by familiar phenomena in perhaps unfamiliar settings. There really are weather balloons out there; sometimes a conjunction of planets can look very much like something flying in the sky. Happens all the time.
And then there are those incidents for which we never find a satisfactory explanation. Now, at long last, the Government admits that sometimes it doesn’t have a clue what’s going on in the sky. And that’s not a good thing.
The problem is that these incidents seem to display a level of technology far beyond anything our military has. If these phenomena are actually aircraft of some sort, then we seem to be unable to defend ourselves against them.
I don’t think it’s aliens, any more than I think it’s angels. If it’s advanced technology, I’m pretty sure it’s human. The question is, whose technology? If it’s Russian or Chinese, then this could be a huge problem. These two countries do not have our best interests at heart. If they’ve got such advanced technology, we might as well all start learning Russian or Mandarin.
I’m hoping that it’s actually our own technology. Possibly it’s some top secret project that no one knows about, seeing how well it can defeat our current technology. Possibly we’ll learn more, if further videos are released.
